SDRPY Inaugurates Five Model Schools in Yemen

12 سبتمبر 2024

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) inaugurated today five model schools in the governorates of Shabwa, Abyan, Lahij, Ad Dali, and Taizz.

These new schools are part of a series of model schools that have been established by SDRPY across Yemen, furthering SDRPY’s mission to enhance educational opportunities within the country. Funded by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and executed by the Social Fund for Development (SFD) in Yemen, these schools are part of broader support for Yemeni state institutions.

The goal of these model schools is to improve access to quality education, offer equitable educational opportunities, and create inspiring, well-equipped, and safe learning environments that nurture students' potential and capabilities. This initiative not only enhances students' comprehensive knowledge and academic performance, but also fosters a supportive learning environment that accommodates educational programs and extracurricular activities.

By investing in human resources through these schools, SDRPY is also generating job opportunities across various educational institutions. The SDRPY's educational support extends to 11 Yemeni governorates: Taizz, Aden, Socotra, Al Mahrah, Marib, Hadhramout, Hajjah, Lahij, Abyan, Shabwa, and Ad Dali. This support includes public and higher education, as well as technical and vocational training.

The SDRPY’s projects and initiatives have significantly benefited tens of thousands of students throughout Yemen, providing both direct and indirect employment opportunities and contributing to a model educational environment tailored to diverse community needs.

It should be noted that SDRPY has additionally undertaken development projects in eight key sectors: education, health, water, energy, transport, agriculture and fisheries, enhancing and strengthening government capabilities and development programs across Yemen.
