KSrelief and SDRPY Launch Volunteer Medical Program at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden.
A volunteer medical program was inaugurated yesterday at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden Governorate. It is spearheaded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and will run from April to July. The program encompasses various volunteer medical projects across multiple specialties to address the humanitarian needs of people from all Yemeni governorates. These projects are supported by medical professionals from Saudi Arabia.
Included in the program are projects such as open-heart surgery and cardiac catheterization, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery for post-burn deformities, and specialized medical clinics. This initiative arises from the hospital's preparedness and capabilities following its operational project, which is part of 34 development projects and initiatives in the health sector presented by the SDRPY.
The SDRPY has played a pivotal role in operating the hospital and providing top-notch medical personnel to serve the Yemeni people. The hospital spans an area of 20,000 square meters, with a capacity of 270 beds and is equipped with 2,187 medical devices and equipment.
Between January 2023 and April 2024, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital has conducted over 6,695 surgical operations and 2,682 cardiac catheterization procedures. Moreover, the hospital has seen a total of 1,145,578 medical visits, including 387,703 outpatient visits. The number of inpatients in the hospital and the cardiac care center has reached 58,634, with 302,784 prescriptions issued during this period.
This program is a collaborative effort between KSrelief and SDRPY, reflecting Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging government resources to assist the Yemeni people. It aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two entities through joint relief, humanitarian, volunteer, and development projects in Yemen. The SDRPY has contributed 229 development projects and initiatives across eight vital sectors, including education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture, fisheries, and capacity building for the Yemeni government and developmental programs.
