18 May 2026

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), in partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), signed an agreement to implement the second phase of the Adequate Housing project during SDRPY’s participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Azerbaijan, as part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to support sustainable urban development and improve quality of life in Yemen.
The signing of the second phase builds on the successes achieved during the project’s first phase, which concluded in September 2024. The project improved living conditions for more than 4,500 beneficiaries through the rehabilitation of 650 housing units, in addition to creating job opportunities, providing training, and building the capacities of national cadres in the fields of housing and construction.
The second phase aims to rehabilitate 760 housing units for low-income families to provide a suitable housing environment for Yemeni families through rehabilitating damaged homes and improving their facilities.
In its new phase, the project covers three Yemeni governorates, including Aden, Taiz, and Lahij, targeting 760 low-income families totaling approximately 4,560 individuals. It also includes training 220 unemployed youths in specialized vocational skills, in addition to qualifying around 50 technical personnel in government entities, contributing to enhancing local capacities in the field of housing rehabilitation.
